Child Protection
To our firm, Children come first. We represent our clients, but will always be thinking of the children and the family as a whole. As a result, we have built a very strong practice in child protection work.
When the Children's Aid Society becomes involved, the parents will need support and help to keep a level playing field. We are committed to families. As a result, we have a strong practice in child protection and work to ensure families stay on track if they have lost their way and protect those families where the Children's Aid Society is not needed.
What many people do not realize is that child protection work is very different from regular family law work. It is not about one parent in an adversarial situation against the other. It is usually about the maintenance of a family unit and reuniting the family. For that reason, our firm believes that everyone should have legal representation when the Children's Aid Society becomes involved. We also recommend to anyone considering a lawyer to represent them in this type of work, that they find out how much experience and/or work they have done in the area of child protection prior to engaging the lawyers services.
Although located in Ottawa, our firm feels very strongly about maintaining the integrity of the family unit. As such we attend court in Cornwall, Pembroke, Perth, Renfrew and Ottawa for cases involving the Children's Aid Society.
Whether you are legally aided or are of modest means, children come first and we are committed to keeping families together as much as possible.
